Weight Gainers & Carbs

Mass gainers and carbohydrate powders explained

Mass gainers combine carbohydrates and protein in a high-calorie shake, with options such as Applied Nutrition Critical Mass, Trec Nutrition Mass XXL and Rule One Mass Gainer. Carbohydrate powders are simpler, often a single ingredient such as maltodextrin, cyclic dextrin or Vitargo from SciTec, and are commonly mixed into drinks around training.

The range also includes cream of rice from OstroVit, Trained by JP and other brands, which is cooked like porridge, plus oat-based gainers and energy gels. Compare the carbohydrate to protein ratio and the calories per serving to find the right fit.
